Vintage Design
Beautiful pair of “Chiavarine” high-backed chairs, expertly made in the 1950s in Chiavari by S.A.C. designed by Gio Ponti. Made with French-polished beech wood in mahogany color and hand-woven cane; elegant and extraordinarily light chairs, weighing less than 2.5 kg each.
The inspiration behind the Chiavarine design has had a significant impact on the design world, including the famous Italian architect and designer Gio Ponti. His Leggera chair in the early 1950s and Superleggera chair in 1958 were both influenced by the sturdy, lightweight structure of the Chiavarine.
The seats are characterized by a hand-woven and knotted cane, made with the ancient techniques preserved in Chiavari. This is testament to the dedication and craftsmanship of the craftsmen working in Chiavari, ensuring that these chairs will last for years.
