For his furniture designs Alvar Aalto mainly used wood.
Alvar Alto was influenced by Bauhaus and Deutscher Werkbund.
He loved the organic architecture and a close connection from landscapes and buildings.
Le Corbusier, Fernand Leger, Walter Gropius, Laszlo Moholy-Nagy and
Nils-Gustav Hahl Artek were connected in friendship with the couple Aalto and also in business.
1933 Artek and the couple Alto founded a furniture manufacturing.
From 1940 Alvar Aalto was professor for architecture at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in Cambridge.
