Vintage Design
The design is a reminiscent of the work of manufacturer Mobichalet in Belgium or Pierre Chapo in France, and are a very original and one-off pair. The two stools are made of solid wood and despite being made as a pair they vary slightly in their size and also in their volume. The main part of the seat is made from the same tree with one stool having a slightly deeper cross-section than the other one.
The stools have a uncomplicated monolithic form of half trunks with four angled legs. There are six chiselled half circle on the upper rims of the seat that soften the overall look.
However the main decor is the wood itself: There is a wonderful grain along all parts of the piece and the rings of the tree trunk are a subtle detail on display. This effect is highlighted by the technique of darkening the wood through burning the surface, which makes the whole piece even more expressive.
Both stools are in good vintage condition. They both have some wear and patina that makes them truly original and one off pieces. They are also some traces of the original lacquer visible on the sides.
