Joe Colombo was an influential Italian industrial designer of the 1960s. Born in Milan in 1930, Colombo studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in his hometown before launching his own design studio in 1962. He is best known for his innovative and functional furniture designs, many of which are now considered icons of Mid-Century Modern design. Colombo’s work often featured bold colors and unconventional materials, such as plastic and fiberglass. Sadly, his career was cut short when he died at the age of 41 in 1971. However, his legacy lives on through his designs, which continue to be popular and influential to this day.
