This extremely rare and iconic lacquered metal and frosted glass table lamp, mod Bilia, was made in 1960s Italy, designed by Gio Ponti for Fontana Arte. Gio Ponti (1881 – 1979) was an important Italian architect, industrial and furniture designer, artist and publisher. He was one of the most influential and productive Italian designers of the 20th century. Ponti became famous for his outstanding contribution to modernist architecture and design. His work ranged from iconic buildings such as the Pirelli Skyscraper in Milan to furniture, lighting and ceramic design. He was also the founder of Domus magazine, which significantly influenced the development of Italian design..
