Hand-riveted, white-painted metal slats. Black leather-covered tube and base. Polished brass or nickel-plated brass top.
The A805 floor lamp is characterized by the thin strips of hand-mounted lacquered metal that make up its shade. This combination of lines and curves gives different levels of intensity to the light, diffused both directly and indirectly.
The asymmetrical shape of the shade is reminiscent of an angel’s wing, hence the nickname Angel Wing. The polished brass collar contrasts with the white of the metal and the leather of the base, hand-stitched in Finland. The floor lamp was designed by Alvar Aalto in 1954 for the National Pension Institute in Helsinki.
