Arne Jacobsen was commissioned to design St. Catherine’s College in Oxford in 1963, which included the furniture and surrounding landscape. Seen as one of his most outstanding projects, he was awarded an honorary doctorate from Oxford for his work.
One of the most iconic designs to come from the project was the professor’s chair, which is now known as the Oxford chair, designed with a high back that symbolised prestige.
This 3291 model of the chair features the lower backed design, upholstered in bright blue fabric leather.
With a five star satin aluminium swivel base, the chair is fixed height and features matching aluminium arm rests with blue fabric pads for comfort.
A fantastic piece of design history, this Oxford chair would add a touch of mid century style to any home office or desk space.
