Vintage Design
The elegant long sideboard was from the Hamilton Rosewood series, an award-winning design by Archie Shine in 1958. Like all Archie Shine products, these Robert Heritage pieces are of excellent quality and were only sold in very exclusive stores such as Harrods. Robert Heritage designed furniture for a number of British manufacturers in the 1950s, 1960s and 1970s, but is best known for his work for premium London manufacturer Archie Shine. Archie Shine furniture was sold by Heals and several independent, upscale retailers in the provinces. Robert Heritage was also an influential professor of furniture at the Royal College of Art from 1974 to 1985.
The sideboard contains four grooved drawers and a double cabinet with doors veneered with rosewood. There is a characteristic rim on the upper countertop at the back. The piece of furniture made of teak and rosewood has been completely renovated. The wood has been cleaned of the old surface and finished with high-quality Danish oil. The handles have been replaced with new ones.
